Search Engine Marketing (SEM), or eMarketing, is a form of Internet marketing. The objective is to promote websites by increasing visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs). SEM is achieved through the use of search engine optimization, paid ad placement (Google adwords), and paid inclusion. Google Adwords is a complex system in which sites bid for the right to advertise under sponsored links for keywords that they deem appropriate to the content on their sites.
